Howdy

I am in the final stages of the program right now. After this quarter I will only need to finish 699 to have successfully completed my Master's degree. I have completed a large portion of my project so far. I began my project during my 676 Flash course with Dr. Baek. I then completed the initial version of the project as a Flash program for 692. I will now be turning that Flash project into a distributable DVD for my final project. The basis of the project is instruction in manuscript handwriting. The audience is parents and students at the kinder and 1st grade levels. I still have much of the writing portion of my thesis to complete and anticipate completing much of it during this course. I look forward to getting to know those of you whose names I don't recognize and hello to those I have already met.

  1. Hi, Matt. I am right behind you with 1 more elective class and ETEC699. I am looking forward to following your project to see how you have come along. It is always nice to have examples to know that we are on the right track. Not to mention, it is nice to see what is working for others out there. See you online, Bill K

  2. Congrats on having a big portion of it done. Any tips to getting it done? Did you find the literature to back up your project yet? That is my biggest concern. Well good luck with the writing portion.

  5. What a great idea! There are some online programs for learning different types of penmanship but I have never encountered a DVD and most parents usually have a DVD player. Here's a question for you. In your research did you find anything to support a theory I have. I have a feeling that one of the reasons that so many students are doing so poorly in school is because one of the skills, penmanship, has been put to the back burner as students are pushed forward in other areas. Although, I remember hating the drills teachers had us do, I wonder now if drawing circles, loops and lines over and over again didn't stimulate some type of synapse to occur in the brain that isn't occurring now because penmanship isn't being stressed. It sort of goes with the regressive therapy where they take children with certain learning and physical disabilities and make them go through the creeping and crawling stages as part of the therapy to help with their development. I am not sure I have made myself clear but I hope so. Good luck finishing up your project.
